I would pick the word and iconic image of the State of Texas shape because my home state is Texas, USA. The indigenous word Texas means friend in Native American language, and most people from my home state are friendly. I value friendliness and true friendship. I try to "welcome the stranger" as the New Testament Gospel message and the Gospel story of the Good Samaritan says, and I try to be an ambassador of Texas friendliness to people I meet around the world. I believe everyone can and should try to be friendly to each other.
If I could get a tatoo, it would probably be of an icon (famous image) of a tree or an index image of a tree I saw in real life because I believe in being rooted like a tree and always value growing and learning and branching out in life while having my own solid identity as a person. I have memories of climbing trees as a child at my grandmother's house and making tree houses with my father and trusting the old trees to support me while climbing. Trees also represent life to me because they are dependent on water and sunshine and provide shelter and shade and protection as well as fruit which can be a gift and sustenance for others. The Bible talks about how trees bear good fruit and bad fruit and that a healthy fruit bears good fruit. I want to share good fruit and offer shelter to my students and friends through my identity.
